In Benue 10 dead, 300 homeless as Fulani herdsmen attack communities.
The affected communities are Tom-Anyiin, Tom-Ataan, Mbaya and Tombu in the Buruku Local Government Area of the state.
10 persons have reportedly been left dead in Benue State after an attack byFulani herdsmen.
The invasion is said to have occurred from Saturday, February 6 to Sunday, February 7, 2016, according to Vanguard.
The affected communities are Tom-Anyiin, Tom-Ataan, Mbaya and Tombu in the Buruku Local Government Area of the state.
“As I speak with you, fighting is still raging in the affected communities. Although I cannot give you a precise figure of the dead, about 10 have been killed, many are missing and many others sustained injures,” a resident from one of the towns told Vanguard.
The incident was also confirmed by Council Chairman, Godwin Iorsue who said that he was attacked by herdsmen while on a fact-finding mission to the area.
It was only God that saved us. They were over 30 and well armed while we had only four armed police officers with us. Our cars were perforated with bullets,” Iorsue said.
The attack was also confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Moses Yamu.
