IN FUTMINNA: 460 students kicked out of school over poor academic performance.
They were asked to withdraw because they could not meet the requirement set for students to move to the next level in the pursuit of their education by the NUC.
The management at the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna in Niger has withdrawn 460 One-hundred level due to poor performance in the currently concluded academic session.
Mrs. Lydia Legbo, Information Officer of the University, said the performance was unacceptable so the school decided to let them go.
She mentioned that students were warned to focus on their academics before being offered admission into the university.
She said that letters of withdrawal were served on the affected students by the school’s management on Friday.
The information officer said the affected 100 level students were from various departments.
According to her, “they were asked to withdraw because they could not meet the requirement set for students to move to the next level in the pursuit of their education by the NUC.”
She said the affected students could not get a GPA of 1.5 after the session “and by virtue of the guideline, they cannot continue their programmmes.”
She concluded that any student that cannot measure up to the standard of the University will be shown the way out.
